We decided go on a little adventure out of Melbourne to Lake Eildon. It took us about 2 hours drive from the centre of Melbourne, passing Yarra Valley and Healsville. It was such a calming feeling to see all the greens, cows, horses, sheep along the away outside of the hustle and bustle of the city. We were lucky we got to experience both sunny day and the foggy erry vibes at the Lake Eildon. On the first day we went for a walk along the lake, saw the dam, met some fishermen & enjoyed the beautiful scenery. The next day we had our little picnic catchups and kayaked on the lake. The water was still unless occasionally boats making waves otherwise pretty cool experience being on the kayak and close to the nature. Although it was foggy and you couldn't see the whole of hills around but it added to that unique kayaking in winter feelings! Either way, whatever weather you find yourself in it's all about what you make of it....

Perfect place to bring the family for a weekend away camping. There are loads of campsites to choose from so you're sure to find one that's not overcrowded. If you're into four wheel driving there are lots of tracks to choose from, I wasn't able to find any that were much of a challenge so if you've got a pretty stock standard 4x4 then you should be fine. The lake itself is perfect for jetskiing, kayaking, swimming, rubber donuts, or fishing as well so bring what you have and you'll have...

Really nice spot that I never knew of, although fresh out of lockdown there were plenty of people that had filled out the campsites, but still room for more. Plenty of options as to where to camp around the lake and some fun hilly light 4x4ing throughout, although most is accessible by your grandmas shopping and church car as we saw while we were there. Beautiful stars at night too, some drop toilets at some of the sites, plenty of wood and fire pits around too....
