One Tree Hill in Ararat, Victoria, is a popular lookout with views of the surrounding area. The name "One Tree Hill" is a reminder of the area's gold rush history and the extensive deforestation that occurred.

History The gold rush in 1857 transformed Ararat into a boomtown, which prospered until the turn of the 20th century The heavy clearing of forest during the gold rush led to the name "One Tree Hill" Location One Tree Hill is located at 52 One Tree Hill Rd, Ararat VIC 3377 It can be reached by car, bike, or on foot The top of the hill has picnic tables and offers 360-degree views.

I recently visited the One Tree Hill Lookout in Ararat and was absolutely captivated by the breathtaking views it offers. Perched atop a hill, this lookout provides an unparalleled panorama of the surrounding countryside.

The journey to the lookout itself is an adventure, with well-maintained trails and easy access. If you don't want to walk, the lookout is only a short taxi ride away from the town. Upon reaching the summit, I was greeted by a sweeping vista that seemed to stretch on forever. The sight of Ararat township nestled amidst rolling hills is nothing short of picturesque.

It can get very cold and windy during the colder months. Please do layer up based on...

Its a steep climb up when you are pulling a camper but plenty of room to turn round at the top. It was a windy overcast day but still worth it. You can just sit in your car and look out. A couple of picnic tables and a concrete pagoda is all that is at the top, but what you are here for is the unobstructed view of the hills in the distance. Around the pagoda are some markers indicating places and their distance. Thinking sunsets from here would be incredible, but places to be,...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Despite the name, One Tree Hill actually has plenty of trees! 🌳 The lookout gives you amazing sweeping views over the Ararat countryside — perfect for a quick stop to stretch your legs or snap a photo. Easy to get to, not time-consuming, and well worth pulling over for if you’re passing through town. A simple little gem with views that surprise you. 🌄
