My husband and I were very fortunate to have visited this fabulous winery while on our wine tasting trip in Orange this past week. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience commencing with the cosy ambiance of the historical setting in an historic school building on the property. Derek our tasting host gave us a highly informative overview of how the winery was started by Peter Mortimer the League legend and he brought his sins and family along with him. The wine tasting was made so fun and interesting by Derek and the highlight was when Peter came and made us feel even more welcome. We had such a great conversation with Peter he was so naturally engaging. These sorts of interactions by the winery owners as what happens only in the regions is what totally sets them apart from the sterile Commercial wineries as are in the Hunter and the Barossa. Here you’re made to feel welcome and not an imposition. We will definitely be returning here . The wine is great so are the hosts what’s not to love!

We had an appointment at 12pm and were the first group to arrive on a quiet Friday afternoon in January. We were personally greeted at the driveway by a friendly staff member and offered a cheese board to start with. A new bottle of crisp, fresh sparkling was opened promptly and off we went with the tasting list! Next we were greeted by the owner Peter and given the lowdown on the rest of the list. There was some healthy competition between the Australian and French winemakers and a few fun stories told regarding the history of each wine. Thanks for this insight, Peter. We tried all the wines from the standard tasting list and were pleasantly surprised when we were offered a few wines off the exclusive members tasting list. The tasting was held outdoors (covid safe) in the grounds of the old March School House and it is just the cutest environment. A pleasant experience and we will certainly be back!

From the many wineries we visited this weekend, Mortimer’s Winery was our favourite. The service was outstanding, with super friendly and engaging staff. Daniel, who is part of the family that owns the winery, was exceptionally knowledgeable about the wines, adding a personal touch to our experience. We particularly enjoyed the Shiraz 'Jules,' named after Daniel's mother. The winery is charmingly set in an old schoolhouse, which adds to its unique atmosphere. We loved sitting on the veranda, overlooking a lovely grassy area with a fire pit. We would definitely recommend a visit to Mortimer’s Winery. It's a lovely place to relax and enjoy some excellent wine. And a special highlight was their adorable dog Archie. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Orange!

Mortimer Wines is a gem of a winery tucked away in a picturesque corner of the countryside. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted by the most beautiful view of rolling hills, lush vineyards, and the most inviting tasting room you can imagine. As you step inside, you're welcomed by the warm and friendly smile of Peter, who immediately makes you feel at home.

Peter is a knowledgeable and passionate sommelier who takes the time to guide you through the various wines on offer, sharing fascinating stories about the winery, the vineyards, and the winemaking process. His enthusiasm is infectious, and you can't help but feel excited about trying every wine on the menu.

And speaking of the wines, they are simply divine. Every bottle is a masterpiece, crafted with care and attention to detail. The whites are crisp and refreshing, bursting with flavors of citrus and tropical fruits. The reds are rich and complex, with layers of dark fruit, spices, and hints of oak. Every sip is a journey of the senses, leaving you wanting more.

But it's not just the wine that makes Mortimer Wines special. The ambiance is perfect, with comfortable seating areas and an outdoor terrace that's perfect for soaking up the sun and taking in the stunning views. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, making sure you have everything you need to enjoy your visit.

In summary, Mortimer Wines is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves great wine, beautiful scenery, and warm hospitality. Peter and his team are fantastic hosts, and the wines are simply out of this world. Do yourself a favor and book a tasting today - you won't be...

We went to Mortimers in the late afternoon on Easter Sunday. Not only were they able to accomodate us (a group of 11), but it absolutely the best winery we went to on our trip. Peter was incredible, he was so lovely, welcoming and made us feel at home while we were there. The place is beautiful as well and has a real charm about it. Peter told us some stories and made all of us feel welcome, not only that he was very generous with the tastings and it was very clear he has a strong passion for winemaking. We asked to see if they were doing any food/cheeseboards for the afternoon, and while it seemed they had wrapped up food for the afternoon, they still whipped us up a few without question or any hassle. We would have understood completely if they couldn’t have done it but the customer service was just so great. The real cherry on top, of course, were the wines. It was an incredibly consistent range, I rarely go to a winery where I love so many wines (and I wasn’t alone in thinking this - our whole group did as well!). Peter went above and beyond, I will absolutely be back for our next trip to Orange and can’t recommend enough that...
