I went to the Forest of Tranquility with a friend - she had two children with her, I had three. I do not want to say publicly how much we were charged for the privilege of sitting at the picnic tables for our lunch and then walking along the rainforest track - let's just say it made Easter showbags for each child seem reasonable and cost-effective. There were no bins in the picnic area, because the rubbish might tempt animals, but I thought at that entry fee, it wouldn't hurt the owners to take some responsibility for the rubbish themselves. Apart from toilets, there were no other facilities except a small playground area with a swing and some climbing equipment. After we had eaten our lunch, we locked our rubbish in the car and proceeded to do the rainforest walk, which was very pretty and the right degree of difficulty for school age children. We kept looking out for the attraction that would justify the high cost of entry, but the walk was over within 40 minutes without any incident. There are so many beautiful places to walk through the bush and rainforest - sometimes with the added attraction of animals or the convenience of cafes - why on earth do these owners think they can charge this much for a picnic...
