If you enjoy your outdoors then this is a must visit location. The park is where the Turon River begins at the juction of Coolamigal & Jews Creeks. The area was worked for its gold back in the gold rush days (1851) and you can still see the remains of many of the alluvial working along the banks of the river. Access to the park is by 4WD. The quickest is from the Castlereagh Highway onto Lockhaber Road, Lockaber Link Road then Steep Hill Road. If you enjoy your four wheel driving then entering the park from the south will give you great pleasure. From Dark Corner Road follow Blackbutt Mountain Road then onto Dark Corner Mountain Trail until you get to Pinnacle Fire Trail. Continue north along this trail until you reach the gate to enter the Turon National Park. Toilets can be found at The Diggings Camp grounds. Picnic tables at Woolshed Camp grounds and BBQ facilities at both...

Visited the part to do the difficult 4wd track with the 4wd club. As its a difficult track you should always travel with a group of exoerienced drivers with equipment for recovery and repairs. Lots of river crossings and hard wombat tracks to navigate. Fuel up before Capertee since I depended on the one in town who ran out of diesel. Lots of great away from the crowd campsites by the Turon river. Be responsible when lighting campfires. Ideal for self sufficient campers (tenting) who have 4wd vehicles though I did see some campers and caravans too. Take care to protect the environment and take your...

This is the place for a great escape from the city hustle and bustle. It seems like a million miles away but it is a leisurely couple of hours drive. There are designated camping areas within the National Park and there is a selection of accommodation choices from Turon Gates eco stay. They have lots of isolated cabins that can accommodate a variety of numbers of people as well as 'glamping' if that is what you prefer. Picnic areas down by the Turon River are idyllic. All in all it is well...

Turon River National Park is a fabulous destination for adventurers with an offroad 4wd vehicle. Your regular car won't make it so bring your truck for this destination. There are abundant secluded camping sites and lots of gold mining history too. Ammenities included picnic tables, fire rings and drop toilets. The river flows clean and clear and good deep swimming holes can be found. Bring the whole family for a camping adventure they will remember.

Nice NP to enjoy some downtime without crowds even on a holiday weekend. Camping needs self sufficiency. There are toilets only at the official camp grounds. Needs AWD and good growth clearance to get in and out and there are a few rivers to wade. Downsides are the minority of people hooning around damaging the tracks, and leaving litter, esp. toilet paper near camp sites and river. Access some interesting 4WD tracks from here.
