Β Β Β Read moreA stunningly beautiful location. One of many along the Great Ocean Road. We were there during the peak summer months and expected that there would be a lot of people there. When we arrived we were lucky to find a parking spot in the small parking lot. As we made our way down I spotted a tourist from Europe who had climbed up on a railing to get a shot. I include the photo here. What you cant see it that he is barely balancing himself and that the other side of the railing is a sheer drop into the jagged ricks and ocean about a hundred feet or more down. We then made our way further down to the Grotto and came upon a scene of tourist from Asia who had ignored the signs and climbed into the jagged rocks to get pictures. What they ignored was the sea which was coming in and could easily wash them away. As we got further down to the site that most people take a photo through the opening in the wall to the sea, we were meet buy the rest of this group who were hogging the area so we could not get a photo. When they finally moved over, we still could not get a photo without including the rest of their group who climbed over the wall onto the jagged rocks as I referenced before. The biggest surprise was that they were there with a tour guide who did nothing to control his group. One of our friends told them the story of another Asian family that ignored signs in another area and were washed into the sea to meet their death. A true story. This got the tour guides attention and he called his people back so we could finally get a good photo. I mention this because it is something that ruins ones experience but should not deter you from seeing this natural wonder site along the Great Ocean Rod. Perhaps you will be a little luckier with the other tourists there at the tie...
