The vantage place to be - for Sunrise over both Uluru on right at a distance & Kata Tjuta (Many Heads) - the Olgas domed formations on the left which is closer. Weather Gods must be benevolent & so they were on 30July23 recently. Steel raised walkway from free large parking area - upward incline for about 150-200 metres which stretches over the striking desert scrubs, shrubs & arid grasses.

Double level viewing platform (partly covered) where everyone jostles for prime viewing space. Despite the hoards & chatter, I was was enchanted by the mystical mounds of the Olgas rising above the red desert plains, with the morning mists swirling at the base & layered clouds clinging to the peaks....✨️✨️✨️Come early to get the first rays of the rising sun. You need the Kata Tjuta park pass to get in. No...

This review is for the Kata Tuja dunes viewing area - not walks in the area, unlike other posts listed here, which are not helpful 😠

There is mobile reception, but no toilets. The viewing area has benches and shade, and is accessed via a several hundred metre walk up metalled pathways with hand rails. The car park is modest, so it may get crowded.

This is a great place to visit to see both Kata Tuja and Uluru/ The Olga's and Ayers Rock in the same visit. It's also a lovely place to visit after visiting the sunset viewing area, as Kata Tuja will be in siluohette against the sun, which can be spectacular.

Be prepared to run the gauntlet of the portapotty plant when in bloom when starting off. This local beauty is a flowering bush whose scent smells like a portable toilet...

We went for the sunrise in the middle of summer. The photos don't do it justice. Locals recommended this spot as being the best to see the sunrise.

We arrived about 20 mins before the sunrise. There are seated areas however the best views are from standing position where these photos are taken. During peek season, it may be worth arriving early to make sure you can enjoy the full sunrise.

The pathway from the carpark to the viewing area (platform) is obvious.

It was mostly silent when we were there and a beautiful experience. Immediately after, we walked the Valley...
