Pink Lake Lookout — Attraction in Pink Lake

If you look really closely you may just see a hint of pink. For non locals, please don't come because you think you'll see one of the great pink lakes of WA, the name will lead you astray! I'm sure there are many other exciting things the lake can offer but I think the majority of visitors arrive expecting to get a great Instagram photo and leave disappointed. Ok lets stop there for a minute, the pink lake is supposed to be pink am I right ? Well not anymore. The cause for for water colouration is a bacteria called pink algae, although i could be mistaken about that particular bacteria type, but I was told by one of the locals that the lake lost its colours many years ago as this bacteria almost vanished from the lake, so its just another lake with beautiful view! For all those leaving bad reviews and saying this shouldn't be used as an Esperance tourism attraction... it isn't. This lake hasn't been pink in decades. People are confusing it with Lake Hillier on Middle Island, which is the one used on all the brochures and instagram, you'll need to do a scenic flight or boat cruise to get there.
