This is the second time that we’ve been to Scarborough for a tasting. The first time was several years ago and I liked the wines so much that I joined their Wine Club. We hadn’t been able to visit until recently due to living in FNQ. Luckily, we now live much closer and when I knew we were going to be staying with friends in the Hunter Valley, I suggested we book in for a tasting. Like us, our friends really love their wine and they had also booked us into one of their favourite wineries for a tasting after Scarborough. This put the pressure on for Scarborough to live up to all the good things I had told my friends. Well Scarborough certainly delivered. We had our own private tasting room with a selection of wines and cheeses already waiting for us when we arrived. One of the Scarborough team told us a bit about the winery and then talked us through the characteristics of the first couple of wines including which cheeses would pair well and then left us to taste, discuss and enjoy before returning to answer any questions and then explain the next few wines to us. We also had the opportunity to taste some older wines as well as the current release which was great. This was such a lovely and relaxing way to do a tasting and we all thoroughly enjoyed it which was probably evident by the workout that the credit card got afterwards 😊 Our friends were so impressed, phew! as were we. All of the staff we had dealings with were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful and Scarborough wines are lovely….especially the Obsessive Chardonnay which is a bit of a favourite. I would totally recommend booking yourself and hopefully some friends in for a tasting (and purchasing) at...
Read moreOur recent visit to Scarborough Winery was made truly exceptional thanks to the wonderful Amanda. From the moment we arrived, her passion for the wines and her engaging personality created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. What stood out was her dedication to ensuring we truly tasted the wines, going beyond a simple pour to guide us through the nuances of each variety. Amanda's "obsessive tasting" approach, as we affectionately dubbed it, was a delight. She took the time to explain the winemaking process, the unique characteristics of the vineyard, and how to truly appreciate the aromas and flavors on our palates. Her insightful commentary and genuine enthusiasm made the experience so much more enriching than any standard tasting. We felt encouraged to explore each wine thoroughly, ask questions, and develop a deeper understanding of Scarborough's impressive portfolio. Beyond her expertise, Amanda's friendly and attentive service made us feel like valued guests. She effortlessly balanced professionalism with a personal touch, creating a relaxed and enjoyable environment. It's clear that she takes pride in sharing the Scarborough wines and ensuring every visitor has a memorable experience. If you're planning a visit to Scarborough Winery, we highly recommend seeking out Amanda. Her "obsessive tasting" is not just about sampling wine; it's about embarking on a sensory journey guided by someone who is truly passionate and knowledgeable. Thanks to Amanda, our tasting was not just good – it was amazing, and we left with a newfound appreciation for Scarborough's exceptional wines and the people who bring...
Read moreVisited from Canberra. Attended for a friend's self-guided wine tour (3 planned stops) birthday plans. I don't like wine and so not a huge fan of wine tours, but this trip changed my mind somewhat. This was our first planned stop, and the scenery was spectacular - it competed with the tasting for my favourite part of the experience. As a birthday gift I bought my friend his favourite wine from each location, but at this venue I even got one for myself - for someone who doesn't like wine, this is pretty evident that I liked it. The whole tour and the amazing experience I had changed my mind about wine tours, although I still don't like wine in general. The guy who told us about the wines was so knowledgable for someone who looked so young, even told us some stuff about the grape growing and the history of the winery. In all, I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed...
