I visited the Tacking Point Lighthouse after breakfast. The lighthouse is worth visiting. It is relatively small, but neatly kept and photogenic. The view is amazing and the history board around the lighthouse will give you a brief history of the lighthouse and what happens around the area. Besides the lighthouse there is Coastal Snap, a community beach monitoring initiative - find the phone stand where you can take a photo of the coast, and you can upload your photo as part of the communities initiative in observing how the coastline changes over time. The Lighthouse is roughly 10-15 mins drive from the Port Macquarie town centre. The drive was easy but please watch out for cyclists. There were not many parking spots but turnover is quick so just be patient.

Picture perfect lighthouse. We were lucky the weather was nice. There are staircases at the left and right hand side of the lighthouse taking to 2 different parts of the beach. The one on the left took us to beautiful small rocky beach and the one on the right took us to beautiful long beach. All are so beautiful to visit. We went separately to the large beach during sunset. Sands were white and soft. Water was shallow, wave was very gentle. Perfect for children to play along the beach. The lighthouse has some carparking spaces on top. You can also drive to the beach below and park at the beach. There is a toilet at the carpark near the beach.

Tacking Point Lighthouse in Port Macquarie is a must-visit attraction offering stunning panoramic ocean views and a peaceful atmosphere. Perched on a coastal headland, it’s the perfect spot to unwind, watch the waves, and enjoy the fresh sea breeze. Below, a beautiful sandy beach stretches along the coastline, surrounded by luxurious ocean-view mansions that add to the scenic charm. The combination of blue waters, rolling waves, and a tropical vibe makes this place ideal for relaxation, photography, and simply soaking in nature’s beauty. Once you sit and take in the view, you may never want to leave!

It’s an easy walk to get there, with car parking available in a couple of locations. If you prefer, you can drive closer to an access point. A walking deck surrounds the area, offering excellent viewing spots and stunning sea views. Lighthouse tours require pre-booking, which we unfortunately missed as we weren’t aware. Accommodations can also be booked, providing magnificent views in a peaceful and quiet setting. For our next visit, staying overnight would definitely be worth it. There’s also a nearby walking trail that is equally beautiful.

You can enjoy amazing ocean and costal walk view. Watch the cute and beautiful lighthouse or toward south to watch the great long beach life. Easy to park and walk few steps can get the peak. Very friendly environment for ages and kids. Definitely 5 star place to visit!

A must do as part of your visit to Byron Bay! Lots of history inside the lighthouse and they run tours throughout the day. Parking at the top is $10 but where in Byron is there somewhere your not paying for parking right? There is a walking track after the lighthouse that takes you to the most easterly point of Australian mainland where you can get a photo next to the sign.
