This is not about the Info Centre itself( the ladies there were friendly and helpful and struggling to even tell us where to get a coffee ... try the next town), but in all our recent Outback travels, as we tried to help Regional Qld in their struggle through these tough Covid times there was pretty much only one Thumbs down - Quilpie. They did NOT want outsiders there, no matter how careful. Pretty much everything in town was closed... cafes, pubs, local toilets... even to their own locals. Very unfriendly town, won't ever be back. They've really shot themselves in the foot with their attitude, unfortunately they will probably never recover, as they aren't even trying to keep things going the best they can, like most other...

Did the Bilbies Tour here. Fantastic. Well worth doing. $22 per person. Over an hour presentation about two amazing men and their life long efforts to save the Bilbies and their fence they invented and developed to keep feral cats from killing all the Bilbies. It was an electric fence and one year the electric stopped working. The feral cats soon worked it out and quickly decimated the new thriving colony of Bilbies. They had to start all over again and they did and it is now still protecting the Bilbies today. A truly inspirational story. Well...

The thought that has gone into this wonderful Quilpie night show experience, is second to none. Right down to the box of goodies received to eat prior or during the show, to the comfy chairs and blankets. Well worth the small amount charged, especially when you receive take home wine glass (plastic) and stubbie holder. Don't worry because you actually receive them full. 🤣 Mossie/midgie spray also supplied😜 Do yourself a favour and see this historic show. You will not be...

Wow...what a great little haven Quilpie is.. Customer Service was exceptional at the visitors centre & the small town turned it on for a few days visit. The history lesson of a town in the making & its growth was amazing. A night theatre show with drinks & tucker was exceptional..as was the town walk along the main street for coffee in the morning, pub meal for dinner, cold beer, highly recommend a stopover here & at the caravan park.

Dropped into the visitor information centre to see what we could do for half a day and were treated by a very helpful young lady. A few things we explored were, the river walk, a railway and war museum as well as a drive out to Baldy Top Lookout, but you do have to walk a short distance up the hill to get there. Viewed the Opal Altar at St Finbar’s It Was a good way to spend half a day in Quilpie.
