The colourful Quirindi silo art was done by artist Peter Ryan, who was inspired by the area’s history. Starting with the tree goanna, Yurrandaali, the totem animal of the Liverpool Plains, the story depicted on the three silos continues into colonisation with the land impacted by railways and agriculture. What is unique about this particular piece of silo art is that they have a night-time show, where you can pull up in your car, tune your radio to a particular station (88.6FM), and get a soundscape to match the projections. Read moreArrived at 5.20pm to find out that the sound and light show will be on at 7.30pm. We were on our way towards Cessnock for the night but decided to wait. We parked up in the caravan parking available alongside the silos and cooked up our dinner as we are self contained. Then made some hot chocolates, grabbed pillows and blankets and laid down on the reclining seats there.
The show was cool and covered the community, history and things around the area. The silos are gorgeous in their own right but was made special by the town of Quirindi with this sound and light show. Recommend if you are in the area - glad we waited...

It would have been 5 stars, if the light show had more origin stories on the animation, AND mentioned that 7pm (EST or 8.30pm daylight savings time) is when the 30 mins countdown begins - we arrived 6.45pm for the 7pm show (as advertised) only to wait in the cold til the actual start time!
