Situated off the road to Bargara is the low-lying volcanic remnant known as "The Hummock" offering visitors spectacular views of the region. The Hummock is a hill with a lookout in an otherwise very flat Bundaberg and surrounds, the weathered remains of a small basaltic volcano. I did a group tour and. Very nice wonderful Beautiful lookout. Nice elevated piece of land that gives sweeping views of the surroundings. The surrounding area is quite flat, so you can see the sweeping expanses all the way to the ocean. There is a small car park available for a couple of cars, not very busy. There is also a little hut with a speaker for some historical information. Beautiful fields and...

The Lookout has a couple of little shelters where one can just sit and take in the view but also has a display where if a button is pushed, provides commentary from a (former) sugar cane worker about his experience of the lifestyle. If someone wanted to go there as part of a localised tour it would possibly be included. Sorry, don't remember whether there were...
Read moreThis lookout is apparently on top of an extinct volcano. It’s about a 15 minute drive east of Bundaberg heading towards Bargara. The lookout offers a near 360 degree panorama of Bundaberg, the sugar can fields and farms, and you can also see out east to the coastline. There is a hill north-east of the lookout which has communication towers on it that block out that part of the view. This was a great spot to watch the sunset, and I imagine if a big thunder storm rolled through it would give you an incredible view as it approached. I would like to see a tower platform added so you can see over the other part of the hill to give you...
