Spent a great time here. Only about 40-60 mins from Melb by car. After a friendly welcome from the owners, we enjoyed a tasty lasagne with a lovely glass of shiraz, and later, the best scones with lashings of jam and cream - and all very affordably priced. The old house and property is full of light, charm and romance but the displays of children's books and the art on display was what we came for - and we were not disappointed! Currently artist Alissa Duke's delightful exhibition of drawings in old books is a real treat to see. Those who enjoy art and those who love books will enjoy this display. Many other delightful artworks, books and ephemera on display too. After a slow look inside the house, we popped outside and enjoyed the paddocks where kangaroos were soaking up the afternoon sun. The garden has a magnificent wisteria currently in bloom. A really lovely place to visit. Can recommend. Sketchers would particularly enjoy spending some time here.

Had a lovely time checking out the Dromkeen homestead. It has a beautiful gallery containing the paintings and illustrations of some Australian artists. They had just finished up a workshop when we arrived and it reminded me of being at the John Marsden writing camp when I was in high school. They do holiday programs and writing/illustrating workshops there too from what I can tell. There is also a cute little tea room. We had some lunch (pictured) which had a hearty home made vibe. We will definitely be returning to curl up on the couch and do some reading.

Have been a few times now, never disappoints. Everyone there is so knowledgeable about the house, it's history, that of the featured artists & they all obviously have great passion & enthusiasm for what they do. The Cafe is also really good, foods always amazing & inexpensive. The gallery itself is also really amazing & the surrounding grounds are so picturesque!! Definitely would come back again.

Just spent a magical afternoon with Mum and the kids at Dromkeen. The owner and staff were all very welcoming and informative. The cafe atmosphere was very inviting and the food affordable and comforting. My daughter loved the storytime and craft activity that we were lucky enough to catch by chance (1st Saturday each month 2-3pm) . A great place for parents to take preschool and school age kids. Very kid friendly ; we’ll be back to lounge in that dreamy looking toy room with its glorious...
