I've been here twice, it's a beautiful place, and I enjoy fishing here off the ramp but I have to say even with the rule of no unleashed dogs there were still big unleashed dogs on both occasions... anti social behaviour by groups of guys camping which made us feel intimidated enough that we left early. As mentioned in another review I felt there was apathy shown by the staff for complaints who I also have a strong feeling knew we were going to have trouble because when we first drove in the lady was trying to book me into another location without explaining why... now I know why. I believe she also mentioned we were being put next to "a lovely family" when it ended up being a group of older men who claimed we took their spot, surrounded our tent with cars and let their dogs surround the tent with people still inside it...

Also when we went into the building to ask staff to intervene they said the manager is coming to talk to us well the manager never came and I had to go around the camp-site to try to find him and when I did he behaved like we were inconveniencing him by expecting him to do what he...

Delightful area to kayak mid-winter, especially mid-week; the steep hills add to the pleasant views.

That said, I witnessed many instances of potentially dangerous and illegal activities while I was at Lake Lyell Recreation Park.

These activities include; People in ute trays while vehicle underway, and driving at speed over speed humps. These people appeared to be staff (as they were seen to get out and clean the toilet blocks.

People in boats on a boat trailer while under tow by a car Non-adherence to no-wash zones + speeding near the wharf and swimming area Reckless control of a motor-bike, driven across grassed picnic area; of course the riders did not wear a helmet

Apathy by management staff when complained to. I am under the impression that they have had complaints about anti-social and dangerous behaviour previously (they were fielding a phone call about these things by someone else when I stepped into...

Such a stunning lake in the heart of the Blue Mountains. A flooded valley where you can explore (in a boat/jetski) all the way up the river that feeds it. Camping in the unreserved areas is basic (i.e. drop toilets and no showers) but it's better for it. The lake water is a joy to swim in but be aware of jetskis and other speed boats etc. Lose a star for the crowd it attracts which basically want to party all night and hoon around in jet skis and weird speed boats. You can have fires which is also great, especially for cooking.

Paid to camp was preety nice was a couple of crouds of 18 year olds making a ruckus a few nights and a fishing comp on so plenty of boats out early to wake you. Cool grounds was really cold but great ! Plenty of people skiing. Nice nature and supposedly alot of trout ;)

We camped at a powered site. The lake and surrounds are beautiful and the camp sites are nice and sizeable. The only criticism are the amenities, although they are clean and well maintained, they are inadequate for the size of the camp ground.
