Firstly - the Wandoo has very patchy to Nil phone reception throughout. Google maps does drop out! (So if you've started with a pre-set route on google maps, if you exit out of maps in the midst of your jouney, you may not be able to pick it up again). Always a good idea to leave a plan of where in Wandoo you're heading to with a friend as you won't be able to call out in most areas. Wandoo is a large area bordered by Great Southern Highway and Brookton Highway. Its roads/tracks are 99% accessible by a 2WD vehicle but expect some bumps. We have encountered (depending on the season) boggy mud, sandy soil, trees over tracks (turn around!) corrugations & pot holes. The wider main gravel roads are ok but if you venture onto the smaller lesser travelled tracks you never know what you may find. If in a 2WD, be wary. Wandoo showcases many diverse native flora, fauna and differing habitats. Native orchids all year round but you're in for a treat during late winter and spring.
