Whistler Wines is an absolute treasure in the Barossa Valley. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with beautiful views of the vineyard and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that sets the tone for the whole experience. The setting is stunning — spacious lawns shaded by big trees, perfect for sitting back and enjoying a glass of wine while soaking in the scenery.
The wines themselves are fantastic. Each tasting felt carefully guided, with staff who really know their wines and love sharing their knowledge in a friendly, approachable way. The range had something for everyone, from light and easy-drinking to more complex and bold varieties, and every glass felt thoughtfully crafted.
What really stood out was the hospitality. The team at Whistler make you feel less like a customer and more like a guest. They’re warm, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about what they do, which makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable.
It’s also a great spot to relax beyond just the tasting. The outdoor space is perfect for families, groups of friends, or anyone who wants to take their time and enjoy the surroundings. It never feels rushed, which makes it easy to settle in and appreciate both the wines and the setting.
Overall, Whistler Wines offers everything you’d hope for in a Barossa winery — exceptional wine, beautiful grounds, and wonderful people. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting the region and will definitely be...
Read moreOverall this is a lovely little winery, well appointed, with some great facilities for kids - a lawn, a paddock with kangaroos, and a small playground. However, I found the welcome to be lukewarm at best, the lady who explained our options to us appearing extremely disinterested.
It's also disappointing that you can't have a guided wine flight if you're with kids. They don't allow kids in the indoor tasting area, and won't accommodate an outdoor tasting. You do have the option of a four-wine wine paddle, but if I'm going to a cellar door I'm interested in learning about the wines I'm tasting.
Finally, I have never been to another cellar door where, when you order a platter, gives you a bunch of (admittedly good quality) store bought items (Maggie Beer, &c), a pair of scissors, a couple of forks and tells you to get on with it! I understand that there are no kitchen facilities, but the least you could do is actually open the packages the food comes in and present it nicely on a board.
The wines themselves (at least, the four I could try, as we could only do the paddle, not the flight)...
Read moreOne thing I've found about Barossa is all the staff everywhere are usually super friendly, likeable and knowledgeable. There are so many fantastic wines available so the staff really can be a point of difference. We visited today and met Ellen, who was very bubbly, friendly, full of information and beyond everything else caring and very helpful. During our time there she explained all about the vineyard and the wines but also spoke to us with genuine interest in our day and stay in the Barossa. While we were there she called restaurants for another couple to check if they were still open so they didn't ride their bikes there only to find they were closed and gave us a local taxi card for our dinner plans. Of course Whistler Wines were absolutely wonderful and the make your own grazing plate idea is genius but Ellen's service was well and truly the thing that set Whistler apart from other vineyards. Wishing her all the best for her upcoming wedding. We will definitely be coming back to Whistler Wines during our next...
