We were privileged enough to visit this house with a living descendant of the home. A beautiful young woman named Gracie. Our guide was very informed on every aspect of life on this property from the earliest days of white settlement. Her insight into the lives of the families here was excellent. The First Nations people’s history within the area is very rich and I appreciated the acknowledgment shown before the tour. The area itself is of significant beauty. Read moreTurned up on time to a booked activity. No staff or anybody around. After TWENTY minutes we finally see a group emerged from who knows where. (I don't know the layout it's our first visit). I ask the person in uniform if this is the group, and why they started early. I received a shrug and was told I don't know. And he walked off. No attempt to include my children who couldn't understand the contempt thrown our way.
After having driven half an hour and waiting twenty minutes, I found this extremely rude. What a waste of our time and energy.

Went there with family to climb Mt Tibro and decided to do some sightseeing and found the Bankfort House on Maps. Was definitely worth going to. The staff gave us a tour of the house that was used as a stop-off between Gympie and Brisbane back in the mid 1800's during the Gold Rush period. Thank you very much for the hospitality Marilyn.
