Houndstead — Attraction in Sunshine Coast Regional

Very disappointed. While we thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent there with our dogs, the owner’s behavior completely soured the visit.

Upon leaving (literally just got in the car), we were accused of not cleaning up after ourselves, completely untrue and of not skimming the pool—which we absolutely did. We followed all the rules and left the space as we found it, but the owner was hostile and rude in addressing these supposed issues. What’s more, we were banned from the property without a clear explanation as to why. When we attempted to ask for clarification, we received no response.

It’s extremely disappointing to be treated this way after paying for a service. The lack of professionalism and communication left a bad taste, and I would caution anyone considering this facility to think twice before booking. It’s a shame! From the moment we arrived the owner had an issue with us. We had a booking for 5 Adults and 4 dogs, however we almost weren’t let in because we had 3 cars. As we were walking up to the area we had our dogs on leads as per the rules however we were approach by her dogs that were roaming free and she was nowhere to be seen. We spent 1.5hr there and just before we left we followed all the rules given, we cleaned up after ourselves, put all the dog toys back and used the pool skimmer. However apparently this wasn’t enough, it seems as if the owner wants you to spend 10 mins swimming and 80 minutes cleaning. After we left, I messaged the owner to say thank you, to which I received a message to say we are no longer welcome back. I’m explained we cleaned and followed all the rules and asked if there were any issues to which I was left on read. We had such a fantastic time at Houndstead! 🐾

The property is a dog’s dream — 5 acres of fully fenced space for zoomies, splashes in the pool 💦, and hay bales to run across (or try to jump over in Sunny’s case 😅). Nala even got to be included thanks to the foam mat, which made her feel confident joining in despite not being a big swimmer.

The set-up is safe, fun, and so thoughtfully put together. The location is super convenient too, just a couple of minutes off the highway — perfect for a stopover on the way down the coast or a day trip on the Sunshine Coast.
