Beautiful picnic area, great little walk down to natural rock pools / swimming hole and a well built bush walk circuit from the swimming hole - a 4.6km walk all up so good for the family or those looking for a short walk. Lots of stairs though so it's not super easy - avoid the pram / strollers if you can, and the longer circuit is probably not good for very young children as the are lots of steps and descents with decent drop offs and no railings. The walk to the rock pools is OK for all ages though, just be prepared for the climb back up an those stairs once your done. The rock pools can get extremely busy on hot days on week ends and the holidays, so whilst it makes a great place to enjoy a picnic with a view, my tip would be, if the car park is parked out, enjoy your lunch up in the park up the top as it's still pretty and has a lot more room to spread out. Then head down to the rock pools. Watch it for the eel as you get in and out - he likes to hang out by the edges hoping for food (don't panic, he's after bread, not you! FYI as it is please don't feed him human food, its not good for his belly). If you walk the kondallila falls track, don't be too disappointed if the falls themselves aren't falling - its been very dry up the lately. I've seen them at full torrent which is beautiful but it will take a lot of consistent rain to get back to that. The circuit is still with waking though as it descends down into the gorgeous rain forest and then climbs back up the to other side of the rock pools. Oh, and unless you like climbing lots of stairs, take the direction the signage indicates (enter the circuit before the rock pools), as the return is much more gradual climb). For those looking for longer day walks, one of the day walks begins half way off the longer circuit - follow the signs towards the kondallila falls track just before the rock pools and you'll find signage to the longer 10km walk half way along (after you've reached the bottom and viewed the gals...

Read moreSuper easy to access from either Montville or Flaxton. The car park holds about 50 vehicles, and can get tricky to park at peak times (weekends, public holidays).
There's a cafe just up the road, 200m or so, but parking there is also limited, so use the main road if really busy, and just walk down.
There are a few options when visiting, firstly the bbq and parkland area for day use which is 200m from the car park. Theres shelters and public toilets too. If you continue, the walking path will take you on a route directly to the rock pools at the top of the Falls. You are allowed to swim there and is safe for children (usual parental responsibility applies).
From the rock pools, there is a circular track that will take you down one side of the valley, past a lookout that gives you a nice frontal view of the waterfall.
If you are OK walking on dirt / gravel tracks, with proper concrete stairs and stair like descent / ascents (stairs made from firm stacked rocks), then you will be fine.
No wheelchair access unfortunately.
Continuing on, the track will descend to the valley floor, with a 50m side track to the very bottom of the waterfall. From here, you can walk across the bridge, and the path will wind its way back up the opposite side of the valley, arriving back at the rock pools.
For the adventurous, just after the bridge, is a 9km walk to Baroon Dam, or 2.2km to Flatrock, a nice creek side rock formation, great for photos, and spot of lunch.
The scenery along the entire route(s) is super!
Given that it's rainforest, be careful with wet rocks, they do catch you out, and a slip or ankle twist can get you.
I live up here, so regularly walk the Car Park to Flatrock to Car Park,...
