A hidden gem located at Wentworth Falls, Lincoln's Rock was previously known as Flat Rock, The Rock, Sunset Rock, and Wedding Rock before it was renamed after Australian adventurer Lincoln Hall in 2013. Old GPS navigators may imply the road here is unsealed but it's fully tarred, all the way up to the new Council carpark. Tourist busses frequently visit this location towards sunset and the Rock itself is popular with weddings as it offers a panoramic view towards the King's Tableland. Note that even in Summer, the temperature at this elevation can be cold and since the rock itself is exposed, winds can strip any remaining warmth.

This is a popular location for photographers and astrophotographers. Be mindful of the fact that it's a very long way down to the valley floor if you make a wrong step, especially in the dark. There's a small, short, track at the West-end of the rock that leads to a lower ledge that's more protected from the elements. There's an "cave" here (an alcove known as Hermit's Cave) that is easily reached. Some smaller caves in the face of the rock require effort and flexibility to climb into. This site is popular with International Tourists from many countries and it's not uncommon to see over a hundred people gathered here to enjoy the views.

Lincoln's Rock is usually accessible all year around. The walk from the new carpark takes you past a barrier and to the rock. It's gravel-covered with loose quartz and ironstone so it doesn't get muddy. It takes around 3 minutes to walk from the carpark to the Rock itself.

PROS: Beautiful, Majestic Views of the Valley below. Popular on Social Media. A favorite location with Photographers. There's now Phone Reception. Unique, sweeping, westward views of the Sunset.

CONS: No Public Bathrooms. No wheelchair access. Limited, Timed Parking by local Council. Carpark often fills up around Sunset. Some parking time-zone restrictions. Zero safety barriers. Literally none.

TIPS: Bring a flashlight if there after sunset. Bring a jacket, regardless of the...

A Memorable and Unforgettable Trip Our recent trip was truly one of the most remarkable and unforgettable experiences we've had. Unlike typical destinations, this place is refreshingly untouched by commercialization—no stalls, no stores, and no ticket booths. It's pure, unspoiled nature at its finest. If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle, this is the perfect spot. I highly recommend starting your day early, gathering friends and family, and setting out to enjoy the serene and breathtaking scenery that this location has to offer.

The views are absolutely stunning, making it a must-visit for anyone who appreciates natural beauty. It's also an ideal camping spot, especially for those who enjoy being fully immersed in nature. The area features a natural rock formation that adds to its charm. However, it's important to note that there are no fences or barriers on one side, so you’ll need to be cautious and come well-prepared.

Since there are no amenities available on-site, it's crucial to carry everything you might need with you, from food and water to camping gear. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, our experience was nothing short of amazing. The simplicity of the surroundings, combined with the untouched natural beauty, made for an incredible trip that we won't soon forget.

For those seeking an authentic outdoor adventure, this place comes highly recommended. Whether you're camping, hiking, or simply looking to enjoy a peaceful day in nature, this destination offers an unparalleled experience that is both refreshing and rejuvenating. It’s a place where you can truly disconnect from the modern world and reconnect with nature. There is nothing note even a washroom. Its totally Natural place and must-visit for...

Lincoln’s Rock gives you that Blue Mountains wow moment with almost no effort. From the small gravel parking area the path is flat and short, and within a couple of minutes the trees fall away and the whole Jamison Valley opens like a stage set. The sandstone platform feels impossibly broad and smooth, the drop beside it is clean and sheer, and the view runs for kilometres along the escarpment toward Mount Solitary. On a clear day the colours layer from olive green to hazy blue, and after rain you sometimes get low cloud curling up the cliffs like steam from a kettle. Photographers love it for good reason. Every step on the rock changes the angle and the light, and even a phone camera looks like it grew up here.

Come for golden hour if you can. Late afternoon light drapes warm tones across the cliffs and turns the valley floor into a soft patchwork. If the wind is up, the sound rushes past your ears and gullies answer with their own echo. It is one of those places where you naturally fall quiet for a few minutes, even with a handful of other visitors milling around for photos. The rock is unfenced in parts, which is part of the drama but also a reminder to watch your footing. Good shoes help, and keeping a comfortable buffer from the edge keeps the focus on the view rather than the drop.

Practicalities are simple. Parking is limited so arrival early or late helps, and there are no toilets or water on site. Bring a jacket because the temperature slides fast once the sun dips. The surface is smooth and mostly level which makes it kinder on prams or tired legs than many lookouts nearby. Pair the stop with Wentworth Falls or a coffee in the village and you have an easy, high impact Blue...
