Don’t listen to what’s advertised online — this is NOT a big dog friendly park. Even though there are two designated areas for big dogs and small dogs, ALL small dog owners bring their dogs into the big dog area, knowing their dogs are unfriendly or scared of big dogs, and force the big dogs and their owners out of the park. This happens DAILY to the point where many big dog owners are unable to let their dogs play in peace. ALL small dog owners who do this should be fined heavily for their negligence and rudeness. They HAVE a designated area but choose not to use it, and feel entitled to the big dog area, without sparing a thought for the poor big dogs who want to play in peace. I have seen multiple small dog owners HARASS big dog owners and their dogs when THEY are in the wrong area! This has not just happened once or twice, but is a DAILY OCCURRENCE, and their dogs always cause a scene and lots of upset. They also do not pick up after their dogs waste and leave their dogs excrement all over the big dog area. Very trashy people. I will not be visiting this...

We really enjoyed this place the first time we brought our dog here but today absolutely angered me. We took our dog to the small dog enclosure, just as we opened the gate he was latched onto and attacked by another dog. Lady just acted oblivious to her dogs behaviour saying “I don’t know why he’s like this”. My dog yelped and cried like I’ve never heard before. Instead of removing her dog from the park (like you should if your dog attacks another one). We had to leave straight away. Watch out for irresponsible owners in this park! Unfortunate situation as there’s plenty of wonderful dogs and places to run around and walk...

Such a spacious and well-planned dog park. Love the training prompts and tunnels!

There are shaded areas as well as a small closed off area for dogs that are a bit nervous or need a quieter space too which is lovely.

Poop bags are provided at the bins and there is a scent garden full of plants and flowers that are pleasant for your canine pals to sniff!

Parking is right at the gates of the park and there are double gates for your dog's safety.

There is also a small community of regulars on Facebook and Instagram so you can stay updated in the event of any meet ups or incidents (Shale...

We had such a fun visit to Shale Hills Dog Park! 🐾 Our two mini schnauzers loved running off-leash and exploring all the open spaces, and the nature loop was a lovely addition—perfect for a leisurely walk and taking in the surroundings. The park is spacious, well-maintained, and great for socializing pups—our dogs met some new furry friends and had a blast playing. Our toddler also enjoyed toddling along safely, making it a truly family-friendly outing. Overall, Shale Hills Dog Park is a fantastic spot for a mix of dog fun, family walks, and enjoying nature. Definitely worth a visit! 🌿
