Nice little spot for a picnic with the family. Water is a bit murky (each to their own if you like it or not, the water was okay to swim in our experience) - Voted 3 stars because if you got little ones like ours who are wild, and love to run around and are never still then it’s best to go to a water park rather than here. Our main concern was the shallow area (it looks and seems okay from afar) but when you’re actually in the water where the shallow part is to enter: The sand was way too soft and so our little one would run into it and would just dip right in there and could drown so more intense supervision was required for us here. Not ideal for a first beach experience for bubs and toddlers. I would recommend your child to be a little more older and have a good sense and level of knowing how to swim here at this beach. And don’t come when the weather is peaking at 30+ degrees with your little bubbas because the sand is too hot and you really need good sandals even for your kidlets running on the sand. Saw a couple of kids including mine run on there and they too were crying for a bit. And lastly - please be careful and aware of the horse flies too as they’re vicious and we got bitten, however luckily our little...

Simmos Beach Reserve in Macquarie Fields has a nice sandy beach next to a popular swimming spot on Georges River. Next to it is the main picnic area with BBQs, picnic tables, toilets, and a playground. We have been swimming there in summer and it's great. The river flows slowly through the reserve, so it's very relaxing and good for floating on an air mattress. You won't float away unless you fall asleep 😴. There are a couple of other open, grassy picnic areas away from the riverside with parking or a short walk away from the main beach area. The reserve is very peaceful and away from traffic noise. There are lots of birds, so when we're walking in the trails, we don't hear much except birds and our own footsteps. Some kookaburras have made their home near one of the picnic areas, so we see them there often. There is free entry and free parking, but weekends in summer get busy. Winter is better for walks here, and there are a lot of interconnected walking trails and fire trails, great for peaceful bush walking. The fire trails are great for off-road cycling too. It's dog friendly (on leash) and perfect for walking our dogs away from busy...

Beautiful place for a trail walk or run. Paths are clear and marked by post signage. There is plenty of parking though I haven't been in the warmer weather and in the middle of the day. I went 7am Saturday morning, I was the only one there. It was so peaceful I enjoyed the sound of birds. There are a few trails and worth exploring this part of Georges River. I remember going down to Simos beach way back in the 90's. It's more accessible today it has a road down to the playground, stairs, signage and toilets which were clean when I went. There was ample parking but again I was there early and in August. I personally wouldn't swim there as the water quality didn't look as nice as Kentlyn. But definitely worth going to explore the trails.

What can I say? There is a small playground with picnic tables. It's like a miniature beach where there were a few families swimming in it. It's more of a river with beach sand, and there's only 1 area where there's enough space for the families to go. Pros: Close to the suburbs. Not as far as other places I've been to. Cons: Not a real beach. More a river with 'beach-like' features. If you're looking at a big beach, this is not where you go. Wattamolla Beach, Stanwell Park Beach, or Currarong Rock Pool are much more beautiful beaches to go to.

A definite must place to take the kids and cool off. Has a great playground area, bbq & picnic tables, toilets and plenty of parking. Swimming is great for the litter ones too as it has a long stretch of shallow areas. It does have a steep stairway to get down to the "beach" but wide and stable with rails. Good trails to walk around and explore. Great family day out. Dont be put off the brown colour of the water... its actually clear and clean
