The Basin is massively under rated! Its absolutely gorgeous and very secluded. Full of nature beautiful scenery. We parked at the beginning of the trail on the main road. Walked for about 30 minutes and stayed there all day and had to do the dreaded treck back up hill to get back to the car. It's a pretty hard up Hill walk for people unfit. So what I would do next time is park at Palm beach and get the boat across to The Basin. I would also camp next time as they have Camping Ground with toilets and an outdoor cooking area. Loved it. There are wallabies everywhere and...

Such a beautiful area. We were lucky to arrive by our little yacht. The $3 per person charge for access to the picnic area complete with free bbqs, wallabies and goannas was a bargain. The camp area is well maintained toilet/showers were adequate. The walk up the steep track offered filtered vistas, interesting rock scapes and very interesting aboriginal carvings. Hard to believe such an experience is possible on the finge of a major city. It was a weekend with over 30°C, so waterway was hectic and noisy but we returned on a week day and it was a much quieter...

Optimal walk for a short Sunday afternoon stroll.

The path is gravel and paved. Only a handful of hikers, so it wasn't busy at all. The vegetation gets more lush and varied once you come down the hill. It is a relatively easy walk with only steep section being right next to the Basin campground.

Otherwise a pleasant walk. The car was easy to park, trail was clean, there is an Aboriginal carving site for some cultural enrichment. The Basin was great to enjoy a short stop before walking back up.

Total of 6km with a level change of about 200m. Overall a fun 2-3h...
