What a test of golf🏆 This is a par 72. The Lakes Golf Club stands out as one of Australia's premier private clubs and a top-tier tournament venue. Hosting prestigious events like the 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2018 2023 Men's Australian Opens, it offers golfers a chance to play on one of the country's most renowned layouts. Conveniently located just 15 minutes from Sydney CBD and 10 minutes from Sydney’s Kingsford Smith airport. The Lakes Golf Club is strategically positioned within the Botany Water Reserve. Hosting major events like the 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2018 and this years 2023 overall 8 Men's Australian Opens, this private club provides golfers with the opportunity to experience one of Australia's most famous layouts. The back nine is one of the best in the world featuring 3 par 5’s with water hazards everywhere. 4 par 4’s and 2 par 3’s which require the average golfer to hit a hybrid or more. Corporate events are welcome on Mondays and Thursdays. The food is outstanding for a golf club and can rival most restaurants. There are specials on the menu every week and they are always a good option. I would suggest a round with a member as local knowledge makes the world of difference because when the wind gets up you may need 2 or 3 more or less clubs on anyone shot. The staff are knowledgable and are super friendly and finally a golf pro shop full of those keepsakes from your most memorable visit. There is a full driving range and the pro shop will organise a bucket of balls for a small fee.

Played at The Lakes Golf Club recently and had a mixed but overall enjoyable experience. The clubhouse is definitely a highlight – elegant, modern, clean, and exudes a premium atmosphere. The dining options were excellent with a good variety of food that was both tasty and well-presented. The practice facilities were decent – the putting green was in great condition and well laid out, though the driving range was a bit underwhelming for a course of this caliber. As for the course itself, it wasn’t quite as impressive as expected. Some fairways, especially holes 2 to 5, felt cramped and lacked the visual appeal you’d expect from a championship course. Fairways were often too close together, and there were areas where no proper pathway existed between holes, which gave a slightly disorganized feel. Green sizes varied significantly, and while playable, the overall maintenance of the course was just average. Still, it’s a course with potential and worth a visit – especially for the off-course experience – but there’s definitely room for improvement on the course layout and upkeep.

My wife and I visited The Lakes from a sister golf course (Paraparaumu Beach Golf Course) in New Zealand. The team at The Lakes could not have been more helpful and genuinely engaging in our inquiries and helping us figure the course out. Even though the course was under repair and change, it was a delight to play. The fairways are amazing and the greens are challenging but true. The first hole is spectacular and one to look out for on your visit. thanks again to the team at The Lakes! When my wife and I returned to Sydney we will definitely come and see you again
