Wow , what a lovely scenic part of Tamborine Mountain to enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding countryside ๐Ÿ‘Œ

The Hang Glider Launch & Lookout at Robert Sowter Park Lookout at 294-298 Main Western Rd,Tamborine Mountain QLD 4272.

Had the absolute pleasure of enjoying a lunchtime stop off at this picturesque part of Queensland ๐Ÿ˜‹

There are no picnic facilities available, so bring a picnic blanket to relax on the grassed areas overlooking the countryside.

This is a perfect place to launch paragliding of Hang Gliding when the weather conditions are suitable.

The Canungra Hang Gliding Club uses this magnificent area ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Unfortunately, on this weekday, the wind conditions were unsuitable for any session to take place ๐Ÿ˜•

The area of the Tamborine Mountain's is a great place to witness beautiful sunrises ๐ŸŒ… or sunsets ๐ŸŒ‡ ,but get here early as parking is fairly limited during busy periods ๐Ÿ˜€

There is hardstand parking available on the opposite side of Main Western Road, including parking for people with disabilities.

Gender neutral toilets ๐Ÿšป are available onsite.

So, if you get the chance to visit this area of South East Queensland, put this location on your...

The hang glider launch site at Tamborine Mountain is a well-known spot for both experienced and novice hang gliders, offering breathtaking views and a thrilling experience. The launch site is located on the western escarpment of the mountain and provides spectacular panoramic views of the Scenic Rim and the hinterland below.

Hang gliders launch from a grassy area that overlooks the valley, making it an ideal spot for soaring over the countryside. The conditions are often favorable for flying, with the escarpment providing strong thermal currents that help keep hang gliders aloft for extended periods.

Even if you're not into hang gliding, the site is a popular destination for tourists who want to watch the gliders take off and enjoy the scenic views. There are also picnic facilities nearby, making it a great spot to relax and take in the...

Not a hang glider in sight, but still a top spot. The view is absolutely cooked - in the best way. You can see for miles. Great place to pretend youโ€™ve got your life together while taking deep, reflective breaths and ignoring your unread emails.

Bit windy though, so if youโ€™ve got a fringe, itโ€™s now gone. Bring a jacket unless you enjoy being personally attacked by the breeze. No shops, no toilets, just vibes, nature, and your thoughts slowly getting louder.

Perfect spot for a sneaky picnic, a deep convo, or just sitting there like a majestic mountain goat staring into the abyss. 5 stars for the view, minus 1 for the lack of snacksโ€ฆ but I gave it back because the sky looked pretty.

Would recommend if you like peace, quiet, and pretending youโ€™re in a...

Incredible place to witness the sunset ๐Ÿ™‚ Get there 30-45 mins before sundown to ensure you get a parking spot and decent position on the hillside. We were here in July and it was still busy come the time the disc of the sun fell behind the distant hills. Of course lots of people leave early when the golden hour itself starts at the time of sunset, so make sure to stick about if you want to see the beautiful colours of the sky changing, as well as stars appearing. Also wrap up warm and make sure to take all your snacks/litter home with you! (Unfortunately I had to pick some up for some tourists who were more interested in getting their Instagram photo than witnessing the light spectacle ๐Ÿ˜ฌ)
