Alum cliffs is one of the 60 great short walks of Tassie and being 800m one way it is reasonably short. However the first 200m is basically straight up which is a good workout. It is a fairly well maintained track, with a number of signs to explain the history of the local indigenous people as you walk along. It has a rest chair about 3/4 of the way before you head down hill to the lookout. We visited late in the afternoon in March. I also recommend doing this earlier in the day. The afternoon sun really suited the view and it was difficult to see down into the valley. Spectacular location, you feel like you are among the cliff tops and if you're lucky will hear...

This is one of Tasmania's 60 Great Short Walks. This 800 metre one way walk is a great walk and a relatively easy one, starting with a gradual climb to a timber artwork celebrating the three major physical landscape featured in this area - Quamby Bluff, Alum Cliffs and Western Bluff. The end point is two platforms perched above the Mersey River providing uninhibited views of the Alum Cliffs. Definitely worth the walk. Allow approximately 1 hour for the...

Walk will go up and down the hill, fairly easy with challenging walk uphill, but the view is worth every step!

We loved the view so much that we ended up painting at the lookout.

The best part was watching the kayaks pass through the river.

By the looks of it, the spot felt like a secret spot, happily hidden from the masses. An under dog with huge potential
