From my understanding that this is the same national park as Cradle Mountain, called Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park, and this part of the national park is absolutely beautiful. We recommend to visit the visitor centre to get some information on what sort of hikes there are available, as there aren’t much information on google map. Most of the hikes and activities start from the information centre anyways. Another spot to go is the starting point of the river Derwent, you can walk on the dam and enjoy the panoramic view of the distant mountains.

This is a beautiful national park and maybe we got it on the wrong week because it rained all week. The easy walks are Watersmeet and Platypus bay. The Shadow lake walk is strenuous and not well marked so you don’t know how much longer you have left to get to the lake. The staff at the visitor centre are helpful but I do wish they would mark this trail a bit more.

We did not have a lot of time to spend here. Stopped for a coffee at the cafe where the price of food items was rather high. There was ample parking available. We walked to the jetty/ferry to view the lake and to a viewing platform fairly close to the visitor centre. A highlight was a wombat walking across the path right in front of us!
