We went out of our way to visit Milton Vineyard on our trip to Tasmania after reading about their Halliday awards and seeing some decent food reviews and photos online (google maps, apple maps and google search). Not just underwhelming, I believe the five star reviews are highly misleading - I thought maybe we had the wrong Milton Vineyard, but we were definitely at the right location..

The wines were ok, the Syrah was very good. The staff in the 'wine section' were accommodating and polite. That unfortunately, is where the positives end. I have no words for the 'restaurant' at this venue. The options were a pork bun or chicken nuggets and chips. The ambiance was greasy takeaway food vibe, randomly inside a cellar door. I have included a photo of what to expect. Do not do lunch here - it is not edible and I do not know where the images they are using online to advertise their lunch offering are coming from, but they are no longer correct (maybe they are old images?).

I ordered the nuggets for my toddler and he wouldn't even eat the them which should give further insight into the quality. If you order to eat inside (i.e. not takeaway), all food is chucked into a takeaway box. I also ordered the pork buns as there was literally nothing else to order - they were salty, dry and we did not finish them.

The grounds surrounding the 'winery' were lovely and I wanted to love this place, but I feel people need honest feedback to manage expectation. To be fair, I think the restaurant section was managed separately to the cellar door, however, it is the wrong fit for Milton Wines and it would be better to do cheese and condiments, or even nothing, than continue with whatever the current arrangement is with the food outlet inside the vineyard at the moment.

Thankfully Devils Corner cellar door was just around the corner and we made it for a lovely wine tasing and fresh seafood offering which made up for the lack of options at...

My wife and I had lunch here. We were looking for a good restaurant in this area and we were really disappointed. The service was improper. We had to stand in front of a board on the veranda where the menu was written. Then we had to choose, tell the waiter, and pay for it, and then we were allowed to take a seat; on par with MacDonald's for instance. The starter was good, but the main food was mediocre. Besides, very strangely we had to buy wine in bottle from the other counter to have it with lunch at their restaurant. The waiter wasn't either approachable or nice whenever I asked a question. The only good point in our experience at this place was the good quality wine we bought. So I would recommend the wine but I would definitely not recommend...

So my wife and I are looking around for a local place to chill, have a glass or three and a good meal to compliment. We drove past Miltons a couple of times before we decided to take the driveway up to the converted homestead. The staff were very welcoming, greeted with a smile and we sat down in the corner overlooking the verandah down to the dam. We selected the croquettes as entre’ which was simply amazing followed by the snapper which was even more amazing all at very reasonable prices. The ambience is so chilled, laid back and restful, the food brilliant and the staff attentive and courteous. We have found our local !!. We love it !!. ...

Stopped by here for a quick wine tasting on the way to Bicheno. They’ve got both a restaurant and a cellar door for tastings. The wine was not bad, but what really impressed me was the foods, I had a small cheese plate one, really tasty and well-matched with the wine. There’s also a lovely outdoor seating area out back where you can chill and enjoy the vineyard views.

We recently visited your winery today, and we were all amazed away by the quality of the food. It was such an unexpected delight! The croquettes were a huge hit—everyone at our table couldn’t stop raving about them. The entire meal really elevated the experience and made our visit even more special. Thank you for such a wonderful time.
