A great hike just below the dolerite rock formation, lots of vegetation so to have a better look you can scramble up towards the mountain on the little paths the climbers use for their approach. Just be very careful especially going back down to the trail. It is worth combining it with another trail - The Sawmill - going down for a couple hundred yards. This will allow an even better view of the whole rock formation when looking back.

We entered the Organ Pipes Track at The Chalet on Pinnacle Road, just below the peak of Mt Wellington. There is limited car parking available at this spot. It’s a very easy 25 minute walk to the organ pipes rock face. The view from the track is partially blocked by the trees but there is a clear view at the southern end. There are great views of Hobart along the track.

What a view! A great walk to unwind. I would definitely recommend to be prepared for the cold and wet conditions up there but it does not make it any less enjoyable. As the Organ Pipes came into view through the mist, we put on J.S Bach’s toccata and fugue in D-Minor! Try it!

this is a very long track and there is no barrier or any form of balustrade along the track. the track seems endless and after sometime u have to be very careful as any accidental slip will probably send u onto a free fall down the slope. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS TRACK LIGHTLY!. WEAR UR HIKING SHOE FOR PROPER TRACTION! BRING HIKING STICKS FOR EXTRA SUPPORT as the path is very uneven and rocky. anyway the 'organ pipes' were hard to see and not very spectacular. we can only see from a far. by the time we reached the actual pipes, the view was blocked by trees. thus a clear good picture is not possible. ( Again be cautious when...

This is one of Hobart’s best short walks. For a mountain track it’s pretty flat so would rate as a reasonably easy walk. The views are spectacular one side overlooking the Derwent River and Hobart with the horizon stretching to the Tasman Peninsula and beyond and the other the giant cliffs that are Mount Wellingtons Organ Pipes. The track passes just under the OrganPipes and is home to a wide range of birds and native vegetation. There are tracks that lead to the base of the cliffs if climbing is your thing. Well worth the...
