If you're after a truly unique and immersive experience in Tasmania, look no further than Oyster Bay Tours! Booking online was a breeze, and we were able to secure a spot just the day before our tour in November—perfect for last-minute plans.

The tour kicks off with a short drive from the Freycinet Marine Farm car park to a working oyster farm, where we donned waders and stepped into the cool waters of the Swanport Estuary. Declan, our knowledgeable and charismatic guide, walked us through the entire oyster farming process, from cultivation to the art of shucking. We even got the chance to try our hands at shucking our own oysters, and we got the hang of it pretty quickly! But if you needed a little extra help, Declan was right there to lend a hand.

With just the four of us on the tour, it felt like a truly personal and intimate experience, allowing for plenty of time to ask questions and enjoy the surroundings. After learning how to harvest and shuck oysters, we enjoyed the freshest oysters and delicious cooked mussels, paired with a glass of local wine on the peaceful riverbank.

Declan’s energy and storytelling made this tour unforgettable. If you're a seafood lover or simply looking for a one-of-a-kind experience, Oyster Bay Tours offers a perfect blend of learning, tasting, and relaxation in Tasmania. Highly...

After eating so many great fresh oysters around Tasmania, we were so excited to learn about this oyster farm experience. It’s very close to Bicheno (15-20min drive) so it’s very convenient if you’re staying there. It’s about 2-2.5 hours from Hobart. You meet just outside of the main building, where they are selling fresh seafood (of course including their oysters) where you meet the guide. Ours was Declan, an extremely friendly, articulate and obviously very knowledgable guide who then loaded us into a bus and drove us to the farm where they grow the oysters. We donned some waterproof suits before getting into the water next to the oysters where we saw them at different stages of growth and even had one freshly shucked by Declan. Afterwards, we headed back to shore, where we learned his very effective shucking technique and enjoyed them for ourselves. We also got to try some mussels they grow, which were the sweetest and most succulent I have had in a long time. Definitely recommended, and I can see why they have won...

I can't recommend the Oyster Bay and Wine Tour through Oyster Bay Tours in Tasmania enough! It was an absolutely unforgettable experience from start to finish. Shucking our own oysters was such a unique and fun activity – there’s something incredibly satisfying about enjoying a fresh, self-shucked oyster right on the spot. The oysters were plump, briny, and full of flavor, and the guide (Declan) was so knowledgeable and made the whole process so engaging.

Afterward, we visited a stunning local winery, where we got to sample some of the best wines Tasmania has to offer. The setting was beautiful, and the wine tasting were exceptional. The whole tour had such a laid-back yet informative vibe, and it felt like a perfect combination of adventure, education, and indulgence.

Everything was seamless, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic time. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Tasmania – this is an experience you don’t...

Hands down one of the best holiday experiences I have ever had in Australia, maybe ever! Declan was so friendly and knowledgeable (thanks for the bonus Lord of the Rings trivia, and the wombat-spotting!!) and whilst the experience in and of itself was fascinating and unique, he really made it outstanding. I've never been a big seafood person but, if you never eat another oyster, eat one here. It was such an informative couple of hours, and we all learnt so much about the process of oyster farming, sustainability in the industry, and how to shuck them efficiently. The fresh mussels were a beautiful addition to our mid-morning snack, and everything was paired with a delicious local Riesling. We haven't stopped talking about our visit since we returned to the UK a month ago. Thank you Declan, and the Oyster Bay Tours team!

Declan was a very knowledgable tour guide. He was funny and shared great fun facts. The walk out to the oyster farm was great in waders, we saw fish! Declan showed us baby oysters and oysters which were over 12 years old. He explained how they farm the oysters which was great. He also explained how they farm mussels too which was interesting. Declan showed us how to shuck an oyster. We loved the resiling that was paired with the seafood. Declan also cooked us mussels in salt water. This was so tasty! Would highly recommend this tour.
