Accidentally found this gem on the last day before their Christmas break! It’s interesting, informative, quirky. A feast for the eyes, intimate spaces. The volunteers are passionate about the gorgeous little town and so fun to chat with. I got to get locked in the jail (gaol), into the stables, check out the gardening project (thank you for the tomatoes!) The building itself was the site of one of four ye olde broom factories. Utterly hilarious. But winners at all the fairs! The historic jail was even showcased in Sydney! A safe and happy little town to visit. Great general store. Lovely parks for kids, community garden down near the pontoon- where I thoroughly enjoyed bobbing on my deck chair and eating my lunch! This town is on the original road that linked Sydney to Brisbane. And was the first in the region, surpassing Taree and Wingham. So delighted I accidentally turned right instead of left.
