My experience at Killen Falls near Lennox Head was truly delightful, and I would happily give it a positive 5/5 rating. The falls, tucked away in a scenic natural setting, provide a captivating display of nature's beauty. The cascading water creates a soothing ambiance, making it a perfect spot for relaxation and rejuvenation.

One of the unique aspects of Killen Falls is its reputation as a habitat for platypus. While spotting these elusive creatures in the wild can be challenging, the mere possibility of encountering them adds an exciting element to the visit. The falls' serene surroundings and lush greenery create an ideal environment for wildlife, contributing to the overall charm of the location.

The falls themselves are a visual treat, with water gracefully flowing over the rocks, creating a picturesque scene. The accessibility to the base of the falls allows visitors to immerse themselves in the natural beauty and feel the refreshing mist on their faces. It's a wonderful spot for nature enthusiasts, photographers, or anyone seeking a peaceful escape.

Additionally, the presence of a swimming hole near the falls adds another layer of enjoyment to the visit. The crystal-clear water invites visitors to take a refreshing dip, making it a popular spot for those looking to cool off on a warm day. The combination of the falls and the swimming hole makes Killen Falls a versatile destination that caters to various preferences.

In conclusion, Killen Falls near Lennox Head is a gem that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, potential wildlife encounters, and a refreshing swimming spot. The falls provide a serene and picturesque escape, making it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the natural wonders of the region. I highly recommend experiencing the tranquil magic of...

Went on a Monday morning, not many people about but I'm sure it gets packed on weekends and holidays. There's parking at the top before a 5-10 minute walk down to the waterfall and swimming hole.

I read somewhere that the water quality is 'variable' so swimming isn't advised. Based on that info we didn't take our swimmers but I wish we had. Numerous people were happily swimming. As with anywhere you can swim, it's best to not ingest the water, just in case. There's plenty of shade here if you want to make a day of it.

The path down is variable. The majority of the path is secure but after a while it becomes steep and very rocky, so wear sneakers down to the waterfall. We saw a few people struggling in thongs (flip-flops). There isn't a path per sé around the waterfall and swimming hole, it's mostly an uneven area covered in sometimes quite slippery rocks.

You can swim under the waterfall or you can walk around the base and stand behind it, reviving a refreshing misting of water when the breeze blows back.

While Killan Falls isn't a large waterfall it is incredibly beautiful. It's definitely worth braving the rocky walk down. Or if you don't feel confident to brave the walk down, you can follow the well marked path up to the dam wall or you can walk to the lookout to view the top of the waterfall (it's down the same path you take to the base but the path is good for...

Killen Water Falls, a popular natural attraction, is unfortunately not as authentic as it may first appear. Upon visiting, I was disappointed to discover that the waterfall is being artificially pumped when there isn’t enough flow, up from the river with water originating from a nearby dam. This revelation undoubtedly detracted from the experience and left me questioning the genuine beauty of the falls. The allure of witnessing the power and majesty of a natural waterfall was replaced with a sense of artificiality, undermining the authenticity of Killen Water Falls as a true natural wonder.

While the waterfall itself can still be visually appealing, the knowledge that the water is pumped up from a dam significantly diminishes the overall experience. The charm of witnessing the raw force of nature and immersing oneself in the serenity of a genuine waterfall is undoubtedly lost. It's disheartening when a natural attraction, which should celebrate the wonders of our planet, resorts to artificial means to create a facade. Visitors seeking an authentic experience should be aware that Killen Water Falls does not offer the genuine majesty and beauty of an untouched...

We werent expecting much going into Killen Falls, but we were pleasantly surprised. It's a small area - carpark is very small and was full when we arrived at 9 in the morning, the walk to the viewing platform was very short - but you would be disappointed if that was all you saw of it. The walk down to the Falls is much, much more worthwhile. It is a little rocky and tricky getting down the steps - I did it in my thongs with a baby kn my back, but may be too hard or dangerous for anyone that is a bit older and lacking agility. Once down the walk to the waterfall is a bit tricky too, but it's a beautiful site when you get there. A lush pool of water, the falls, and you can get right next to them or behind them. A beautiful little spot, great fun for kids climbing over the rocks and splashing in the water too.
