Great for kids big and small- my husband and 16 month old toddler loved it, especially when my toddler discovered the acoustics (naturally having a tantrum cause I would not let him touch the displayed planes) he ended up being amused by his babble and noises echoing back.
Lunch was tasty I had the BLAT sandwich, the staff described the food as instagramable, my husband described the cafe as lacking in menu meal variety and uncomfortably hipster his way of saying not toddler family friendly, my only criticisms are it did not appear they had a high chair for our little guy, not much suitable for our toddler to eat, toddler had the pumpkin soup (he spat it out as too spicy due to the pepper in it, I quite enjoyed it) and his first babychino and if they did have toilets/changing facilities they were very well hidden there was no signage I could see I did however appreciate having some time out with a warm drink while my little one played with the toys in the corner but there could have been more, the kids corner felt like a bit of an afterthought, a plane themed playground would be the way to go I reckon but being a new tourist attraction/business it's understandable that there's some teething to do but I'm sure as word spreads and they generate more money it will get...
Read moreI visited the drome cafe and aviation museum a while ago, and it was overall overpriced, unsanitary, and disappointing. I went through the museum, and for the overpriced museum ticket, it was incredibly disappointing if you like to read walls and walls of text. Well this is probably the place for you!
Then, I came out for a coffee and an overpriced overall average sandwich.
the service from the man was incredibly rude and blunt and all I could really get was a toasted sandwich which costed me $17 and all it had on it was the smallest about of chicken cheese and a rash of bacon. Definitely NOT $17 worth.. and on my way to sit down I didn't even want the sandwich after seeing the copious amounts of dog hair on the floor and on the chairs of the cafe! I even saw what looked like mouse poo on the front counter!
And after seeing all of this I could not imagine how many food health violations are potentially being broken and I feel like having dogs and mice in the cafe would definitely be 2 of them...
Maybe take a note out of the morrabian or Narromine museum they both did a really great job with theirs! Heck, even the Temora museum is great!
Overall my experience here was a very sour one. I hope this review helps someone else out before wasting...
Read moreI love all of these Murray River towns. They’re all full of rich history and surprises, and all you’ve got to do is a little digging to uncover some of the mysteries of the past.
The Tocumwal aviation museum just happens to be that wonder. Beginning with John who is extremely informative and loves delving into the past history of the Aerodrome, WW2, the importance that the aerodrome played in the development of the town and how even up to this modern age it still plays a part of the community.
Absolutely worth a visit, plenty of information to absorb and stories to read make this self guided tour much more than the admission fee.
A credit to the local community members who have put their time into...
