the look out and associated trails around the place are worth exploring, the hill is riddled with WW2 bunkers (don't attempt to climb into the old mine shafts - they have been fenced off for a reason). all in all if you are passing through it's probably worth stopping for a look, its the only high point in the area that's publicly accessible.
there are clean toilets at the top near the lookout - its ok to take a RV vehicle up there as the road is in good condition and there are viable spaces for parking. one day all regional towns in queensland will have a quality place like this to visit and encourage the public to enjoy it. well done charters towers -...
Read moreWhile it's not the best lookout I've ever seen in my life, it's certainly the best lookout in this area. The view is amazing and you get a panoramic view of the entire region. It is set up very well to display the history of the mining town and the surrounds and it is probably best to visit during dusk or dawn to appreciate the beautiful panoramic view when the light is good. There are toilets there and the road up is well maintained. There are also a number of boardwalks around the area and so it is wheelchair friendly.
