Apsley Falls is about 65m high, at the top of Apsley Gorge, 1km off the Oxley Highway, about 18km east of Walcha, in the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park. There are ample parking spots, picnic tables, a campground nearby, and the falls lookout is just a short walk from the carpark. There is also a longer walk around the rim of the gorge, providing more views of these falls and the lower ones, and of course the gorge itself, from several lookouts. To see all of them requires about 2km of walking, most of them being accessed by a suspension bridge over the Apsley River upstream of the falls. Read moreThis place is absolutely breathtaking. The waterfall viewing platform is easily accessible and just a short walk from the car park, making it suitable for most visitors. There are plenty of parking spaces and toilet facilities available, which adds to the convenience.
Once you arrive, it feels like you’ve entered a different world – peaceful, natural, and full of beauty. The drive from Port Macquarie takes about 2 hours, winding through hilly terrain and scenic bends, making the journey part of the experience. Be prepared for cold weather in winter, so dress warmly!
