Philosopher Falls is 10 km out of Waratah, Tasmania. Start of track is at the clockwise end of the carpark. Look for bollard with hiker symbol on it.
The walk to the falls is magical with all the moss and fern laden trees and rocks. Part of the walk follows a historic mining water race, with the last part of the walk going down some 200 steps to reach the viewing platform. Yep, you’ve got to go back up the stairs to walk back. It's worth it though. The falls are stunning and are surrounded by the beautiful Tarkine rainforest.
Philosopher Falls is named after James “Philosopher” Smith, the man who changed the fortunes of Tasmania through his discovery of tin at Mt Bischoff, near Waratah.

Also if you’re there for photography, the lighting is so tricky especially for...

Had to climb steps down to the pretty falls that can be slippery after the rain. The track that continues on past the falls along the old water trench is a bit overgrown and not really worth going on as we couldn't see any views so...
