The main picture you see on Google maps while searching for this attraction is nowhere near what we saw when visiting it! The parking area is not clearly signposted, we came to the conclusion that the gravel area in front of the picnic table and chairs should be it. Some people also mention an easy short walk, which is also not 100% what we experienced. If they are talking about the 200m you walk until you are in front of the waterfalls im attaching pictures of, then yes, it’s short and easy. We kept trying to find bigger waterfalls as we saw on other reviews and we hiked up through the trees. There seems to be a path that some people already went through to, but it seems to lead nowhere. It’s not clear if it’s the right way or not and it gets steeper and not so safe if you are not wearing the right shoes. Anyways, it might be due to not having rained a lot during the period prior to our visit (mid jan 2023) but we didn’t see anything special, remarkable or amazing as to intentionally go there as the main reason. Maybe if you stop for a picnic at the table there or for a short break,...
Read moreIt is no wonder that these falls are described as seldom visited by the residents of Hobart despite the alleged short walk from the carpark! There is NO signage to point out the path to take from the point of entry into the forest. The path from the small carpark peters out 200m later. There is no signage as to the scramble to then take from three apparent options - up a steep muddy ridge to the left, go straight on and scramble over a log then cross the stream or down to the right and across the stream. The later two have no obvious further pathway from this point of observation. The truth is that either of these last two across-the-creek scrambles could be used to get to a higher point on the other side of the rivulet so that you can then proceed UNDER a large hanging log and then onto the falls. Quite a frustrating experience as these directions were only given by another walker once we packed it in and were back in...
Read moreWe stopped in hoping to spot a platypus — no luck this time, but it was still such a beautiful little spot! The falls are right by the road, and the short walk through the surrounding bush is peaceful and lush, especially after rain. It feels like a hidden pocket of nature just minutes from the city. Easy access, relaxing atmosphere, and well worth a visit. We’ll definitely be back (and still keeping our eyes out for...
