What a find! Michael Unwin Winery is an absolute gem and a must-visit if you ever in Ballarat! My partner and I were warmly welcomed by Michael and his son Tom, who were fantastic hosts, friendly, engaging, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Tom was extremelly fun and genuine, gave us an in-depth explanation of the wines they produce and guided us through a generous tasting session. The variety and quality of the wines were outstanding, and we couldn't resist in taking 2 bottles with us.

What made the experience even more special was enjoying one of the bottles in their cozy, rustic backyard. The space at the back offers stunning, peaceful views of the surrounding fields, creating the perfect atmosphere to relax and savor the wine.

The interior of the winery is equally impressive, keeping the old, local and vintage vibes, barrels lining the walls, and even unique pieces like an antique barber chair. Every corner tells a story and adds to the character of this delightful place.

Stumbling upon this winery was like finding a hidden treasure chest, so close Ballarat! As soon as we stepped in, we were met by the enchanting presence of Arlo, the four-legged winery ambassador, who greeted us with a delightful belly-up welcome. And oh boy, did Michael, the wizard of wines, spoil us silly! Pouring more wine than we could possibly handle, he turned our tasting session into a boozy reunion of long-lost friends. Michael's charm could make a stone crack a smile, and we even dared to extend an invitation for a dinner date in Melbourne – because who wouldn't want more of his company? The wines? Oh, they were beyond divine, a testament to Michael's passion and wizardry. Our time there felt like a whirlwind romance, leaving us intoxicated with memories we'll cherish forever. We bought a very affordable bottle of wine from the caravan park we were staying at and were delighted to find it was from a winery 5 mins down the road. We absolutely had to visit as it went down a treat and were blown away by the extensive range Michael Unwin Wines produces! We enjoyed a delicious platter and had a very generous tasting with the ever so friendly & knowledgeable Michael himself! We learned so much and I even surprised myself by leaving with a bottle of Chardonnay (something I NVER drink) as it was devine!
