Winton is a quirky town full of interesting and strange sights. This is one of them. The Muscial Fence is Australia's and the World's one and only musical fence.

I wouldn't say that it is a fence per se, but a bunch of quirky farm & tin stuff made into musical instruments. I had a play of course.

Located just a five minutes walk from the Roadhouse Caravan Park where we stayed and behind the truck museum, it also shared the paddock with Arvo, a replica of the first plane flown by Qantas.

The actual Qantas Museum is located in neighbouring town Longreach, a couple of hours...

This place was highly recommended at the tourist information centre as one of the top places to see in Winton... VERY DISSAPOINTING!. Actually Winton should be embarrassed, the site is run down and very neglected, broken and desperately in need of some maintenance. For a town with so few attractions the Musical fence has seen better days, so sad as I can see the potential for the sight. It's unique and fascinating, I could see kids/families enjoying it much more if it were fixed up and painted bright colours. The council needs to put in some effort to bring it back to its...

A surprising and quirky Winton attraction that was not what I was expecting. A collection of found objects arranged to form a sort of bush orchestra. The wire music fence forming the central part. Yes, the "instruments" are a little run down but still fun and worth the visit. Easy bike riding distance from town. Check out Girgarre for similar found objects musical instruments.
