Taking astrophotography at night in winter is so fun. At Captain Cook Lookout is one of the good spots to take the photo. I brought a hot pack, ginger tea, camping chair and camera. Even though there was the super moon in the sky, fortunately, I took some nice images. It was quite a low temperature and windy conditions at night, I recommend to stay for 2 hours unless nothing prepares the winter gears. I caught the star trail and the milky way also apparently appeared on the sky that you can find where is the spot by the eyes. The place is secure and noiseless but the sound of wind and waves. Nature gives you contemplation while you are staying there. There is not easy to go without a car, as it is the lookout place, one of the highest spots in the local areas. This review is base on my experience when I visited at nighttime, but I don’t know what atmosphere in the daytime in the Captain Cook Lookout and the local. The view also beautiful, the ocean was appearing in 15 minutes even at night because your eyes will be adapting to see the ocean through the darkness. The moon and stars help you to watch beautiful nature...

Lovely views from the lookout, far into the ocean, the water near and far, the waves, rocks, mountains, sky above, native flora below 😊

Stunning view back over the ocean. Lookout itself is actually two spots, both look out over the ocean and beach coastline. There is the Winnie Bay Lookout and the Captain Cook Lookout. There is about 15 odd parks at the lookout but not the driveway in is rather steep. There are benches to sit on and picnic tables on the path to the Captain Cook Lookout if you want to stop for a snack. Lookout is non-drinking and has a 150 person weight limit.
