We arrived today after an hour 10 min drive to see the main trail was actually closed. However the emergency vehicle trail was open, it was a nice bush walk to the end. Only about 4.5km round trip to the look out. However we really wanted to see the train tunnel. When we arrived at the sign which pointed to the look out, we desired to follow the signs pointing back to the original trail. We only had to follow it about 500m to find the old train tunnel. It really was the highlight of the walk. We had an 8 year old and a 5 year old who walked the whole way themselves. We didn’t move fast though and ended up taking us probably 2.5 hours. Could definitely do it in a hour with fast walking adults! A few different trails to walk and we agreed we would like to come back without the kids to explore the steeper trails. Was a nice hike all in all. Wanted to post this update to the trails current condition. There was a small water crossing, which we were able to hop across on branches and ricks. And maybe 2-3 muddy sections but mostly it’s firm ground and easy walking. Good for any age really. The lookout is nice but a little underwhelming considering the time it took us to get there, finding the tunnel is what made the hike worth it. So if you’re going with kids makes sure you can make the whole 5.5km at least. I hear the main trail is even longer than the emergency vehicle trail. The only thing that would have made me rate this 5 stars was if there was a waterfall.

Amazing views adding to the interesting history about this trail. A former rail line, complete with tunnel, our Labradors loved this 9k return walk. Thoroughly recommend.

This is relatively easy flat trial thats enjoyable with all that it has to offer. Bring a bottle of water and snacks to enjoy Nattai Gorge views.
