After visiting Discover Deadly in Dunsborough and learning that many of the animals came from Armadale Reptile & Wildlife Centre, I was keen to return here after many years. We arrived in time to handle one of the snakes (and also a bobtail, which was thrilling). The staff member was kind enough to take us around as he fed the snakes, though he didn't know any of their names or seem very close to any of them. We learned a lot of cool things, but the visit was soured when he joyfully encouraged us to visit the birds because one of them loved women and would be all over my wife and I.

We found Rori the Corella to be very charming, but when I tried to move him he bit me very hard. I went to call for a first aid kit, and the staff member at reception tried to push past me to see which bird was being a nuisance. When I interrupted her, she did not seem particularly concerned that I was dripping blood. She told me to go wash my hands, and when I requested some tissues to avoid leaving a trail across the floor she paused and mused that that would be a good idea, and had to think about whether she had any. When I had washed my bleeding hands to the best of my ability (while my wife cleaned the blood off the sink and taps), I wasn't able to stop the bleeding with pressure but waited at reception while the staff member kept writing what looked like a receipt for several more seconds. Eventually she finished, took two bandaids out, and then declined to put on gloves or wash her hands before or after applying them. (She told me it was because she was "old school".) She then lectured me on the safer ways to handle a bird, and chided me for offering my fingers to him which were like "red flags to a bull". I left feeling told off and hurting. It's been a month now, and despite my careful first aid the scar tissue is still very dense and painful, and because it's on the joint of my finger I touch it every day.

I don't want to be unkind, but I wish that the initial staff member had told us that while Rory was charming, he might bite if we tried to remove him. I wish we'd been taught how to handle him safely. I wish that when I called out for the first aid kit, I wish there had been an effective and immediate first aid response following safer healthcare protocols. And I wish I had been validated instead of told off for what had happened.

I loved the animals there, but I won't...

I live in the wheatbelt & needed rather urgent advice after a new neighbour moved to his lifestyle block of 15acres & proceeded to rip, slash, cut & burn everything in sight stating he isnt a fan of wildlife & wants none at his place. The fall out of this was an influx of over a dozen homeless snakes in 3 days all seeking shelter at my place. The amazing lady I spoke to gave me sound practical advice on how to accomodate them on my property so they move away from our home & garden but live the life they should. She also gave me great tips on how to help all the other displaced Lizards & Birds. Im grateful for the depth of knowledge & all the information given & contacts for locals who can help me provide a habitat area on the farm where the wildlife will be happy. My family can safely continue to live in harmony with our wildlife. I highly recommend calling if you have any questions relating to wildlife. Australia has 1 of the highest extinction rates in the world due to governments disinterest & if we as community members dont save the local wildlife soon we wont...

The animals are beautiful. The price is appropriate.

However, the owners have the rudest attitudes. This is not an “off day”. I have been here a couple of times, each time being treated terribly. Completely unprovoked, the lady at the counter is straight up mean and rude. I honestly felt like just saying not to worry about it and leaving before paying, but didn’t want it to ruin my mood. This did make it hard to feel welcome or comfortable here. The older man was the same. With nasty tone of voice and harsh facial expression, I’m not sure why these people are treating us as if we aren’t supporting the centre? They both honestly acted as if we were there to steal their animals or something. Just unbelievable. I just had to leave a review because clearly other people have had the same treatment.

I seriously think an investment in a staff member that actually wants to be there could greatly improve the quality of the experience for...

The Armadale Reptile & wildlife park is an extremely cozy conservation focused wildlife park! The enclosures are lovingly crafted and stocked with natural materials. It's clear by how many species that are native, and multiples, that they rescue and provide sanctuary to surrendered animals. The casual atmosphere along with the native wildlife leaves the wandering experience akin to the best kind of up close and personal views of the animals. Two handling sessions a day is an incredible opportunity included in admission price. Noodle the children's python was friendly and cute ❤️ and the handler Jin was respectful and informative. The birds are very friendly in the walk through aviaries and the dingoes are charming. All in all well worth a visit if you like to admire local wildlife and spend some time soaking in the positive vibes!

We booked a visit today for our little homeschooling group, and everyone had the best time! They have an incredible variety of animals: from all kind of snakes, a wombat, dingo, emu, crocodile, monitor lizards, kangaroos and many kinds of birds (from an Eagle, Barn Owls, finches and cockatoos…) to name but a few! At 11:30am is an animal petting session where everyone gets the opportunity to touch some animals while learning interesting facts. You can then eat your picnic on the big grass area under the watchful eyes of their donkeys and horse, while the kids can run around and play. Everyone from the staff and volunteers was really kind and caring, you could see how much care is put into looking after the animals which are often rescues. Great dedication and worth a visit to support such a great organisation!
