I recently visited Triplet Falls in the Great Otway National Park, and it was truly a refreshing escape into nature. The falls are surrounded by lush rainforest, and the cool, fresh air is perfect for a peaceful hike.
π€οΈ The Walk: The walking trail is a well-maintained loop, about 1.8 km long. Itβs not too difficult, though there are some steps and inclines β so wear good shoes. Along the way, youβll see beautiful ferns, towering mountain ash trees, and hear the sound of flowing water as you approach the falls.
π§ The Falls: The three streams of Triplet Falls are stunning, especially after rain. You canβt get super close to the base of the falls, but the viewing platform gives a great panoramic view.
π· Photography: Great spot for photos, especially if youβre into nature or landscape photography. Early morning or just after rain gives the best flow and misty atmosphere.
π Access/Parking: Thereβs a good-sized car park with basic facilities like toilets and picnic tables. The road leading in can be a bit narrow, so drive carefully.
β οΈ Tips: β’ Go early to avoid crowds. β’ Bring water and snacks. β’ No mobile reception in most of the area, so download maps ahead of time. β’ Keep an eye out for leeches during/after rain.

Β Β Β Read moreWe did this walk a few days ago. Unfortunately you don't get to see much of the waterfalls due to the dense vegetation. I get it, that's nature, I just want to warn people. If you do go, take the loop starting from the right and you will get to the best view which is of the upper level within 20 minutes. Take the same walk back, as you barely see a thing of the lower level of the water fall.
Also if you are thinking of doing Maits Rest like we did, then my suggestion is to do one and not both. Maits Rest is better view of the forest, but it's similar to what you see on the 1 hour loop of the water falls. So if you really want to see the water falls, just do the water falls and not Maits Rest. If I had my time again, I would have only...
Β Β Β Read moreI must say, READ CAREFULLY before start walk to the Triplet falls. There are 3 different platforms to see the falls in the circuits. When you reached to the first platform is lower level, which hardly see falls. Many people think this is the end of the trail. But itβs not!! You need continue walk up the steps. Then you can reach middle and upper level of view platform in 5-10 mints. Its so calm just sit and listen to the sounds of falls. From upper side of platform to car park path is beautiful trails with lots of fern trees around. There are many steps with up&down. No suitable with baby prams. And the Map in the car park is not very clear about the circuits where to start and end. But enter and exit is...
