Yackandandah really hides what should be a major tourist attraction. Accessed from an pretty ordinary carpark located on the dirt part of Bells Flat Road is the mining gorge. Carved out by miners last century it is a special hidden gem. Be careful of the acces track, as it is also not great, but when you get to the gorge you will be rewarded. You can walk into town from the Gorge about 3000 paces through bush and beautiful parkland beside Yackandandah creek.

Great spot for a stroll and enjoy a fast running mountain stream. The stream was diverted back in the gold mining days which is where the gorge was created. Where the gorge finishes is a rocky stream. On a hot day a splash around in the pools would be nice. You have a choice of walking to this location from the town following the track or driving. Either way bring lunch and a drink and enjoy nature at its best in the High Country

What a lovely little stroll, had to leave my chocolate on one of the guard rails during my journey as i could not take it and myself along any further and it would have to wait until i had made my return journey. To my surprise a rather uncouth lady was caught in the act of stealing my chocolate on the return journey. Shame on her.

Peaceful walk that can be accessed from yackandanda town. The town itself is delightful and has all the trappings of a great tourist town, an interesting antiques shop, wonderful coffee houses and two very popular pubs. Wish we had time to visit the dog friendly museum but we were drawn to the scenic gorge walk which was mostly dog off leash. Our 4 legged friend loved roaming around and drinking from the clear creek. Will make sure this town is more than a stopover the next time we are...
