We got here just past 3pm and while our time spent here was only short, it was well worth the trip! We only wish we were a bit more organised and had gotten here earlier!! The grounds were beautiful and gave a really nice glimpse of what life was like about 150 years ago.
Some tips we wish we knew beforehand:
We visited Friday 22nd April, 2022. At this point in time, if you wish to actually enter the house itself, you will require an audio guide and key from Balranald Info Centre (about 8-10 mins drive away). See the attached picture for more details. The NSW National Parks website may say the audio guide and key is located in the Yanga office, but that is currently closed due to Covid. You are still able to wander around the grounds if you weren't able to get the key in time (like us!).There is a museum room towards the front of the property which is open to all. It houses some great artefacts and really interesting photos through the times of the Yanga homestead. If you're looking to go to the Red Gum Bird Hideout, I do believe this can only be accessed via the Lake Loop Track (entered from within the homestead grounds).
All in all, it was a great attraction which we would recommend...

The information is quite informative. You can just go and do a walk around for free but I think you'd miss out on some of the information. A word of caution though... Access to the main household, for which we had a key, was locked with a sign stating for audio and key holders to ring the ranger, number supplied, and they would come and give us access (doesn't make sense if you already have a key, anyway). The problem was we couldn't get a phone signal hence we were unable to contact the ranger to gain access. Could be a problem for some..We enjoyed what we could...

A step back in time, We enjoyed the history & how it was presented via audio set that we collected at Balranald Discovery Centre, Tourist Information. A self paced & guided tour. We were the only visitors at the time we were there. Yanga Homestead volunteers are doing great, keeping the home & gardens well cared for & maintained. Would highly...
