I love Cocoparra NP. Granted, it's not for everyone. Because to get the most out of the park you have to get out of your car and walk. Woolshed Flats camp ground is a nice drive in and OK for access in a car without particularly high clearance. The camp ground itself is large and well maintained with clean drop holes and BBQ area with free gas barbecues and tank water. Fire pits with a swing-arm for your billy are provided, but being a national park, you need to bring your own fire wood. This is also a great spot for bird watching. The sign posted walks in the park are sensational for dry area walking and seasonal changes are obvious through the year. The Pines near Woolshed Flats is probably the easiest and most shaded. Jack's Creek is the best walk for a newbie to the park, and the hardest, but by no means difficult. My recommendation is to walk the Jack's Creek loop in the OPPOSITE direction of the signage, especially if it is your first visit. And if you are lucky enough to visit during the rare occasionsthat the creeks are running, take the Store Creek track to the end, and then push on a little further for a spectacular cascading water fall. Warning : Cocoparra is stinking hot in summer and bitterly cold in winter. Water is usually scarce so dress and pack...
