My wife and I were at the opening of this avenue of honour for the Men ,working dogs, women whom went to Afghanistan. Beautiful day and the Parklike atmosphere is sombre and real. This is the first ave of honour in Australia and the Gov. General And prime minster ,along with the special forces and band. Will forever stay in my mind and all else whom attended a beautiful ceremony for those who gave their all, Collectively. All the Dead have names on one memorial And lots of interesting information. The walk itself is quite long and lined with flowering trees. And more good information . Will try and find some pics to go with this tome...

Just beautiful what the local community have been able to give. Each and every plarc, tree, stone, path direction and statue all have a significant place and story in relation to the men and women it serves in their memory who served in Afghanistan The community also have a special place for the fallen animals who were also in service with the men and women. I felt the place brought so much love, emotion and respect for each and every person in memory here. This is a place everyone should come to visit..while in the tablelands...just wonderful and thanky9u for...

Not my first time here, but was so impressed with the memorial in my last visit to Far North Queensland, just felt compelled to visit the suta again. A most impressive and fitting tribute memorial to the fallen soldiers and their canine companions in Afghanistan. If you have a wish to pay sincere respects you cannot fail to be moved with the beauty of The Avenue of Honour in its lakeside location. Well worth taking a detour to this...

A truly remarkable experience...very humbling and informative. An absolute beautiful monument dedicated to all those men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that we, as Australian, get to live the life we live. As a person who has a family member in active military service, i encourage anyone looking to visit to put it on their list of things to do if you're ever travelling north....

Such a beautiful and touching memorial. Maintained and kept pristine,Set in such a beautiful quiet place overlooking the water. The walk has some touching readings and tributes. You can't help but walk and read with a lump in your throat, paying respect for all that lost their lives in Afghanistan. There is also has a tribute book to leave a message at the end of the walk. Absolutely worth a visit!

What a fantastic thing to do❤. It is so nicely done, the monument and the pathways etc. Everyone should leave a donation to keep this maintained. Private Chuck Ryan was killed in Afganastan in 2010, and his parents Susan and Gordon, had a vision after an Anzac ceremony, and with help from the community, the avenue was put into reality. My heart goes out to them all who have lost❤🙏🌹
