I always liked the resort and came here a lot but whatever you do, never (and I mean NEVER) come here for a season opener. The past 3 times didn't work at all and I wonder why I still do this. You come here for a nice day and buy a day ticket just to find out that there are way too many people because of the ski test event. But not only that, they thought it's a great idea to only prep one slope... The slope was so overrun and then there was another issue: they couldn't open the doors of their gondola (this gondola is notorious for having issues) so everyone had to go with the old train. This meant you might wait for an hour for a 10min run down the slope!? The gondola did open later that day but we were done with it and wanted to go home but there was another problem. They had a private bus going down to the public transport every 30min (10 and 40) so we arrived just before 40 and then had to wait until 25... So we waited almost 50min for a bus that goes every 30min? In minus 2°C? If they can't manage every 30min they should either use 2 buses or say every hour! The bus driver on top of that didn't give a single sh*t about your equipment and just threw it into the bus. We're lucky that we use bags but still got some damage on our boards. All in all a very frustrating day and we wish we would've gone somewhere else. Especially because there was no apology anywhere and on their social media everything sounded like the perfect day... Definitely not going for a season opener again. P.s. we started in Innsbruck at 8:30 and came back around 14:30. We only got in one single run

One of the smaller ski resorts in Tyrol. There's about 10 slopes to go down on, most of them intermediate (red) difficulty, only 2 hard ones (black), one for beginners (blue). Half of the slopes are quite wide with lots of space, the others can get a bit narrow. Slopes were well-prepared with only some small bumps here and there. The resort offers 3 restaurants with rather high prices. Food quality was mediocre, meal sizes big. Local buses run here, parking is for free if you have a valid ski pass for the day. Can be packed on weekends because it's close to Innsbruck.

Incredible place to hike! The free Welcome Card gets you all the way from the city centre to the top in about an hour. I couldn't find much about the trails online but rest assured there are plenty to choose from for all abilities. Well signposted with distance/duration and always very clearly marked, even on loose gravel. Mine took me right along the "feet" of Kalkkögel, an awe-inspiring backdrop. That route back down to Lizum took roughly 3.5 hours.

Achtung!

Today, we went skiing in Axamer Lizum. In the morning, we skied from the top a few times which was nice when there was not a fog. In the afternoon, we stayed at the lower area by the T-bar lift Kaserwald 1. I have to say that the man “supervising” the lift in the upper section around 3 PM was absolutely terrible. He was constantly looking at his phone, completely ignoring people falling to the ground.

What was even worse was that he didn’t react when we fell at the top, and the next approaching T-bar hit us straight in the face. The pain was excruciating, one of us was hurt and was bleeding, and he just kept staring at his phone. Absolutely unacceptable. It was a trully sad experience as the slope itselfs were very...
