Beautiful church perched high on a hill. I first saw this church a few years ago from the train and then by car and tried to figure out what it was and the location then discovered it was called Maria Plain.
Finally on my travels this year - Aug 2024, I got to visit. It is in the middle of nowhere so you would need a car/taxi to get there as it is not accessible via public transport.
Quite a few steps to climb but not arduous. Once at the top if you turn left and go to the Christ statue, you are rewarded with amazing panoramic views over the city of Salzburg.
The church is very ornate and elaborate, there are many things to photograph and look at. A peaceful and serene place. There are benches by the tree to sit and relax whilst you take in the views over the city.

Cons: only one waiter spoke English and this caused us to wait longer for everything we wanted waiter for. Waiter was annoyed at us because he was called every time we wanted something (only he spoke English). He made us feel like he hates us being there. NO vigan options. Had to order customized salad that came with eggs and mayonnaise the first time.
Neutral: Prices are standing'ish to Austria. Food takes about 30~ minutes to be ready.
